Day Trip to Yubara Onsen Resort and more

Yubara onsen resort carpark
facing other side of yubara onsen resort carpark

After taking couple of my friends to Maniwa-shi, it seems turned out as great place to hang around for a day.
  • Your destination is "Yubara Onsen Resort".
Yubara Onsen is small old street with the best out side bath(露天風呂) by the river.
It is totally free and, it mix gender bath in the open space. You may have chance to see beautiful girls while having onse. (Trust me hardly ever happens)

Unfortunately, taking photos in onsen area is quite strict. So please be aware using cameras and phones in this area.

Please visit the Yubara official Home page to you are clearly understood the manner and rules for enjoying this facility. Some people (mainly Japanese) are stupid enough to ruining such a great place like this.

There are quite numbers of Traditional Japanese Hotels around, so if you think this facility is too much for you, using Hotels Onsen will be awesome.

For those who planning to visit Yubara with your partner and looking for more "private" for you two. I highly recommend to take chance of using charted out side bath at Hotels. Just reminding that using charted bath in Yubara is not cheap. If you trouble finding one, please contact me, I'm more than happy to help you.

Also, there are 3 foot bath available and one of it is foot and hand bath. Foot and Hand bath is more fun and warms your body up than just foot bath.

There are a few more places where you could visit. Enjoy exploring small Yubara onsen resort by yourself to find out more.

After enjoying your Onsen, you can enjoy lunch or snacks but I will save this topic till the later.
  • Hanzaki Center
After enjoying Onsen, say good bye to this Nice resort, and Head down to Hanzaki center.
You are probably wondering what is "Hanzaki". Hanzaki is Local name for "Japanese Giant Salamander".
In Japanese very well know as "OO SANSUOU UO"
In YUBARA area, "Hanzaki" appears as god for some reason. (Learning the reason click here)

At the Hanzaki center you can observe their life.
Hanzaki Center is open 7days a week.(closed at the end of year and new year)
Open Hours:9am-7pm

  • Kanba no Taki (Water Falls of Kanba)
Kanba no Taki is about 18km away from Yubara Onsen Resort.
Kanba water fall is registered as one of "Japan Water falls Top 100". The water falling from height of 100m and width of 20m cliff is proudly stunning as Western Japan No.1 water fall.

Also, you will find small water fall called "玉だれの滝(Ball falling water fall)" is interesting and very relaxing.

About 200 wild Japanese Monkeys are inhabiting in this area. In the warmer season, you will have chance to see monkeys in this park.

Goblin Cave

There are one more thing, I strongly recommend seeing at this park, is the "Goblin Cave".
You will see the wooden sign and stairs right behind the reception building at the entrance.
The sign says "It will take 2-40minutes for round trip." in Japanese.
What so cool about this "Goblin Cave" is that you actually can go into cave! It definitely is spectacular. So, please please take advantage of going up the stairs (my iPhone calculated the stairs are equivalent to 27floors).

Kanba water fall park opens from 8:30am to 5:15pm
(closed: the end of year and new year season)
Admission: 300 yen for Adult and Students(up to jr High) are 150 yen.

After had great walk in Kanba water fall park, you may want to stop by Cafe about 100m away from the car park.
They have good coffee, hamburger, Hot dog and more.

Then drive back to your station and this will be the end of your day.

  • My recommendation of Places to eat.

At Yubara Onsen Resort
Although it is a sushi restaurant, they have ramen, Udon and Donburi.
I highly recommend to eat their "Oyakodon". Because it tastes so good.
There are 2 other restaurant close by and 1 Hotel does 1300yen special lunch.
At Kanba Water Falls
It is a Gallery with Cafeteria in one small place.
Hamburger is my favourite lunch menu from here. People in the cafeteria is very friend and the place is very relaxing with quiet tune of jazz.

  • Summary
