Local Gourmet Festival in Tsuyama

This weekend (11/22-11/23), Local Gourmet Festival are held at the Tsuyama Kakuzan Kouen.
Unlike other Festivals in Japan, Food you can get here is really reasonable.

I and my girlfriend visited this festival today and really enjoyed all the food we had.

The Festival starts at 9:30 and finish like 3pm. I really recommend getting there around 10 or 10:30. 10:30 worked really good for us today.

We recommend you to go BBQ buffet held in one of booth in the festival.

You will have 29minutes to try all the types of beef listed on the picture for 1000yen. The stuff comes to your table when your time limits are close.

We were really easy today because somehow, they never came to tell us how many times left and stayed like an hour. There time keeping system was bit dodgy, but it wasn't our problem. I thought they were doing it on purpose because there was not much customer.

My favourite beef was roasted beef, served with "ponzu". Since other beef was quite fatty and heavy, it was easy to eat.

if you are wondering, why it 29minutes..... It is a Japanese thing, 2 is "Ni" in Japanese and 9 pronounced as "Q" or "Qu (Ku)". so every 29th of a Month is 2(Ni) 9(ku) day.
"Niku" means Meat. so it is bit of Japanese playing with word.

The other far end of park we found another roasted beef cooking wildly on Fire.
They were selling 300yen/plate.
Since we were sick of seeing meat after the buffet, we didn't try it.

 In the morning, it was clouded then it's turned out wonderful day with blue sky and warm sunshine. I was wearing jacket and a sweater. It was really hot. so we bought a Gelato.

There were lots more tasty stuff, I can not show in this blog.












Also, you have chance to get knowing of sado(茶道) at Festival for 500yen. They will kindly teach you traditional way to enjoy tea snacks and maccha if you ask them.

Because the property is Tsuyama Castle ruins, you can go up stairs. The above is where you can see the Maple Leaves. The colour was red and beautiful today.
